pure hearted romance.
Junjou Romantica (純情ロマンチカ) is a boys' love series written and drawn by Nakamura Shungiku. The manga is published by Kadokawa Shoten and was serialized in Asuka CIEL from 2002 until 2014; it's currently under Emerald, which is the same name of the fictitious magazine of Shungiku's other series, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. There are currently 21 published volumes, 12 of which have been released in English by the now defunct, Blu, TokyoPop's BL/Yaoi line. The manga has expanded into several drama cds, light novel series in The Ruby, as well as a 36 episode anime. The first season aired in Japan from April 10, 2008 - June 28, 2008; the second from October 12, 2008 - December 27, 2008; and the third season from July 8, 2015 - September 23, 2015.
Junjou Romantica focuses primarily on three couples that have an uncanny association with each other. Each couple is labeled through their respective sub title, their order of appearance and the couple's frequency as follows: Romantica (Takahashi Misaki & Usami Akihiko), Egoist (Kamijou Hiroki & Kusama Nowaki) and Terrorist (Miyagi You & Takatsuki Shinobu). The fourth couple, Mistake (Asahina Kaoru & Isaka Ryuuichirou), was introduced in 2008 and also acted as a one volume side story of their own.
Junjou Romantica shares the same universe with Sekaiichi Hatsukoi.
